Gee ons ‘n helder Somerkersfees (Give us a bright Summer Christmas) in hierdie land, o Heer... (in this, our country, Lord)
In the summer heat the seafaring men opened the traditional Christmas presents we prepared. That outreach ceremony is as traditional as Christmas carols. As in past years we received gifts from all over the country - knitted caps, socks, and scarves neatly wrapped, making up about 2 000 parcels. Woollen gifts in the heat of a Summer Christmas! We know it is contradictory, but these men travel all over the world, often to parts where the weather is far below freezing, despite our hot Summer Christmas weather. We call it "warm hearts". It is God preparing your and our hearts, making them warm to partake in the outreach action, touching men that are far from home and loved ones on Christmas Day. Just before Christmas the CSO staff load their cars and deliver the gifts with other organisations. We all pray that the receivers will feel warm hearts, receiving the love of God through our gifts. We thank each of you that support this beautiful caring project! - Wimpie van Schoor
